This botanical tea towel is made from 100% cotton, and is designed and printed in Staffordshire, a few miles from where I live.
The pineapple design is taken from an illustration by the 18th century painter and engraver, Christian Gottleib Geissler. Geissler was commissioned by the Swiss mathematician and botanist Johannes Gessner to illustrate his work Tabulae Phytographicase, which first appeared in Latin in 1795.
