Lloyd inspires the reader to make the most of their garden from creating a meadow garden to the best plants for a patio.
The Well-Chosen Garden is a book no gardener should be without.
Christopher ‘Christo’ Lloyd was born in 1921. He became one of the most famous gardeners of his generation and his style is still highly influential today. He said ‘I couldn’t design a garden. I just go along and carp’. Brought up at Great Dixter in East Sussex, Lloyd studied at Wye College before returning home in 1954. Here he continued the work began by his father and mother and created one of the greatest gardens in the world. In 1991, Fergus Garrett became head gardener at Great Dixter and took over the running of the garden after Lloyd’s death in 2006.
